Early snow means skis are already swooshing
Nov 21, 2003 - USA Today - Up to 9 feet of snow has blanketed Utah's Wasatch Front since Oct. 30, prompting the opening of four areas: Park City Mountain Resort, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and Brighton and Solitude resorts. More is expected this weekend. In California's northern Sierra, which has seen 2 to 5 feet of snow in the past two weeks, skiers also will be hitting the slopes by Saturday at several ski areas, including Mammoth Mountain, Northstar at Tahoe and Squaw Valley USA. And after blizzard conditions in the Colorado Rockies this week, Snowmass resort near Aspen announced that it would open Saturday, a week early. Nine other Colorado ski areas also will have opened by Saturday. read more
