Caltrans shifts policy on spring mountain pass opening (The Union Democrat)
Apr 1, 2009 - Caltrans has a plan that may take some of the guesswork out of when Sonora and Ebbetts passes will open each spring. Dinah Bortner, deputy district director for Caltrans’ Central Sierra area and part of the Central Valley, has sent Tuolumne and Calaveras county officials the draft of a “directive” calling for snow clearing on the west side of each pass to begin the second Monday of each April. read more
